Almost 40 years ago to the day a lady called Agnes Levine came up with the idea for a community fun run called the Mini-Mos (I was 3 years old and not yet writing newsletters that real estate agents were afraid of).
This event is now the longest running (pun not really intended) consecutively held community fun run. In case you didn’t know the event raises money for Mosman Public School and a charity that is chosen by a panel of kids (Be Centre Foundation is the current nominee). The vision of the Mini Mos is to inspire the community to get fit and also to give back.
Right now I am sure loyal fans of this newsletter are grumbling at the uncharacteristic mature tone of this note but friends this one matters and in the interest of complete transparency I am writing to you to ask for your support for this great community event. *Spoiler Alert 'support' means coming along and running if you are game.
As a proud sponsor of the Mini Mos I can tell you first hand that it takes an incredible amount of effort and generosity from volunteers to make this such a special event, its not just a fun run….there is a rocking Community Fair afterwards at the school where you and the family can enjoy rides, games, a legendary Sausage Sizzle (shout out to Meat on The Avenue) and most important of all a community get together that everyone enjoys.
When COVID hit and we all entered the Twilight Zone the show had to go on and the school and its volunteers ran two successful Virtual Mini Mos events. A special mention should go here to long term supporters like Joey from Vision Fitness and Mosman’s very own queen Mandy Scammell for leading the charge and keeping the show on the Road (there are of course many other legends).
So how can we help I hear you ask? Its simple, get involved.
If you are prepared to run the 10km with me (and my unwanted 5kgs) that’s awesome, if you are prepared to run the 5km with Bindi (she’s perfect) that’s just as good, or if you are prepared to run the 2kms with Ruflles (the soft option) then just dust off your shoes and register.
You can register for the run by clicking here:

If running is not your bag then come along and/or volunteer and say hi to everyone at the Fair….a great day is guaranteed. Don’t do it for me, do it for the kids of Mosman Public and a very worthy charity.
These community events are particularly special because you the community gets behind them, let’s make this 40th Anniversary one to remember…it's on Sunday the 19th June so plenty of time.
Until next week,
David
