The Sleeping Giant

You just can't pick it at the moment.

Two weeks ago Scomo was a dead duck, soon to be crowned Australia's newest former Prime Minister...then Vladimir Putin decided it was time to pull his old favourite movie out of the box, the Cold War. I mean really?

The morning after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour Winston Churchill said he 'slept the sleep of the saved.' I see a correlation between World War III, Churchill and Scomo...totally admit it’s a stretch but if you don't have anything on this afternoon...stay with me.

Try as he might to make people not like him, if Scott Morrison can just manage to seem 'Statesmanlike' he'll retain government. History has taught us that war means employment security for standing Presidents and Prime Ministers...if you disagree may I remind you that George W Bush legitimately won a second term after he stole the first one.

Ok so what's this got to do with real estate?

We reside on the tip of the right wing of Australia and jitters have been growing about a possible change in government. It's funny, not much would actually change if Albo got the top job but markets sway on uncertainty.

If you remember the last election, the Labor party we're going to win...seize our European cars, confiscate all of our Burberry and abolish negative gearing...Mosman was trembling....then somehow Scomo won and the property market went berserk.

Oh and while all of this has been going the RBA announced this week it's not likely to raise rates for some time.

My Doogie Howser sign off is forget the market, plan your life and live it. Who knows what's around the corner ?

Until next week,
