My first boss used to often say to me ‘happiness is when the kids move out and the dog dies,’ if we have any canine subscribers I’m sorry you had to read that (and I’m also impressed that you are literate and managed to subscribe…go you).
I’ve got a new saying for all you would be buyers and sellers, ‘happiness is when you delete the domain app from your phone.’
Now that we are in a softer market we are seeing an increase of consumer paralysis. So many people seem unsure of what to do and waste so much of their precious time. Over the course of my career I’ve seen people sit miserably in homes they hate for years... or attend hundreds of open houses yet ultimately not fix what needs fixing. It’s sad to watch. Conversely I’ve seen people stretch themselves to buy the house they love or more recently bravely cut their losses and commit to moving forward with their lives.
Oh dear, I’ve drifted into a philosophical space this week but it’s coming from the right place. I don’t have to write this, you don’t have to read it but I do think that some people are terrible at making decisions and that can become expensive…like in a life way.
‘Fear causes hesitation and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true’ is one of the many epic quotes from Bodhi, yep…the guy from Point Break…possibly the greatest film ever made with the worst ever remake.
Last year I bought my dream home and I’m sure it’s worth less than what I paid but I’m comforted by the fact it’s still my dream home and I get to live there.
If you have been looking for a house for more than three months you need a good buyers agent, if your house has been on the open market for more than three months you need to talk to an agent that is prepared tell you the truth.
That’s all folks….FYI Elvis is our office dog and listens to me every week when I read this newsletter to myself…I’m slightly concerned by the fact he’s fast asleep.
Until next week,
